You might think that with a company called Black Box Customs (BBC) that "gun ####" may be a different kind of website...

However, I assure you - these is nothing here but whole hearted, erection inducing guns. Guns of various sizes too!

My second project with these geniuses at Black Box Customs in Calgary.

Gen 4 Glock 17 customised again to my tastes.

Please help me choose a name for this guy!

Here is also a pic of it, spooning my previous project which some of you might have seen... Gen 4 Glock 19.

Ladies and gentlemen! (Gentlemen... let's be honest) I will let the pictures do the speaking on their own. Black Box Customs is about quality, service and integrity. Their workmanship is unmatched in this country, and their talent can only be described as insurmountable.

Thank you again BBC for taking my money, and giving me something to drool over!

Now - go clean your internet browsing histories! ;)

I've thought about making a Roland Special of sorts with work by Black Box, but #### if that isn't a lot of money to drop on a Glock.

They do nice work for sure but I wouldn't say their workmanship is unmatched in this country, ImageUploadedByCanadianGunNutz1498538254.990947.jpg

Here is my glock 34 gen 3 with a bit of work and some cerakote.

I'm a total Glock fan boy and almost exclusively shoot Glocks in competition and courses. My guns are totally stock except for sight upgrades.
I am genuinely curious, as I've never seen, in person, nor shot a highly custom Glock before. Do the upgrades and cost involved actually make a real measurable difference in shooting performance or is it more an individual identity kinda thing?
I've used a friend's with a 3.5lb trigger and it was awesome but how much more reliability can you install into a Glock?

For me...
Reliability and performance +1%
###iness +over 9000%

You tend to lose reliability with aftermarket mods. All the slide mods are questionable in terms of performance as they allow debris to enter, and increase possibility of snagging, but they do look good. An aftermarket match grade barrel is probably not going to make a large improvement over factory for most shooters, but the anodized ones look really good in a cutout slide.

In my glock I keep it simple: RYG adjustable metal trigger, 3.5lb disconnect, trigger guard undercut.

Front cocking serrations and a red-dot cutout to co-witness with factory sights would be nice... Maybe I send it off for that + camo cerakote one of these days.

OP I am also curious how long it took for you to do the custom work?

While taking my IPSC course I used my Glock17 factory (actually I removed all the mod on mine and restored it to factory because I will be starting with production div), my instructor gave some very negative comment on Glock will always be the underdog compare to Shadow2 etc and even I can mod my Glock an STI will always out perform it. I know this is very true in my case since I lack the skill. I am also curious if a fully modded Glock can stand against those 5k STI?

Btw the guy who trained with me was using an STI DVC something something. Very fancy gun but since we were all beginners I was not doing worse compare to him in terms of the shooting part... so that kinda got me thinking.

If shooting Production you will be OK. Two of the best shooters in BC use Glocks in Standard 40SW. I think 22 and 20 (Oleg and Oleg JR). If you want to compete STI with a GLOCK in Standard div then go with a 35.
Heck I've seen Open Glocks..

Its all about the shooter 99% of the time.

The two you are talking about shoot in Standard with their Glock 22 and 17. They are modified to the point they don't qualify for Production (match barrels, trigger and magwell mods, etc...). But yes, they do impressively well with their Glocks either way.

You can't compare a service pistol that puts reliability and ease-of-manufacter ahead of all else (Glock) and a race gun that is all about shaving nanoseconds (STI) in any meaningful way. The Glock will fire anything you throw at it in some horrible conditions and certain race guns will be koala-diet specific about their preferred ammo. Horses for courses, as the saying goes. I don't have time or initiative to compete so I like my Glock just fine.

Last time I checked they were both shooting 40.

These custom Glocks were not built for completion.

In the same way I don't drive a Mercedes for performance, these guns were built for ###iness.

I am not sure there was any practicality involved in the design, so much as having something beautiful to look at and play with at the range...
