More M14 Smithing Advice - When to call a Spade a Fzcking Shovel!

chuck it up in a hand drill grabbing it by 1/8 inch on outside end and use a really good file as you spin the pin work the file back and forth.
I sometimes break the hardened layer with a coarse stone then the file. Just have to remove a few thou from the diameter.
hit it with some bluing paste and yer done.

or reuse your norinco pin as it is correct length and diameter.

I don't have the norc pin. I'll give it a shot

Been using the Norc Connector lock (that's the correct nomenclature) whenever I can. I do keep some / few / many real USGI Connector Locks handy for the ODD LRB/ M1A that crosses my workbench.

Thomas 45ACPKING is right... I have a Cambodian Tire Motomaster (over 2500 rpm) drill just for this purpose, chuck up the pin and run the corner of a file to it just to remove a few thou off the diameter of the USGI Connector lock to use in a Norinco receiver. Hard as heck.... But so worth the upgrade if you had to change them out.

Cheers and thanks for resurrecting this post...

2017, and I'm actually retired now after a stint with construction and fiber optic installation/repair!
