More on Hogzilla II

This is a story for those in the tinfoil hat crowd.Like in the Inquirer.I agree that probably 80% of this story is BS/gossip,and should be regarded as such.

Its funny how less and less people share actual stories of they're hunts on this site than they did a few years ago... there is allways some jackass to pick small details apart.

Not funny at all.Its pretty pathetic.

All these ETHICS cops as you call them(funny) really enjoy picking apart peoples storys, rifle choices, and the hunting method they choose.Seems people are actually afraid to post because of this,so we all miss out on unique stories, and thoughts.I just wish these fellas would hang up the badge for a bit and lay off on the bashings.Im sure you wouldnt bash a friend? We are all frends here arent we?

2 miles of fencing actually encloses 160 acres (1/2 mile per side), not 640.

but, at a fast walk, it would still take a person half an hour or more to walk around 160 acres.

depending on the terrain and cover, a hunt in a fenced 160 acres could be anything but easy.

I assumed they meant square miles, but that makes sense, too. As you say- 160 acres is not small.

Just because "killing" an animal is legal, doesn't make it ethical or desirable. I support legal & ethical hunting. IMHO the activity of shooting penned animals may be legal killing, but it is NOT hunting. Shooting at an animal 16 times & only hitting it 6 times over a 3 hour period doesn't seem very "ethical" to me. Did this animal suffer needlessly? Shooting this obese pig should be called "slaughtering" NOT hunting.

George

Remember that wild pigs are a european invasive specie, to be shot on sight, honestly they don't get any sympathy from me ...

That game preserve is on 2500 acres of land. 2500/640 is nearly 4 square miles. How many of us cover a 4 square mile area when hunting on foot? Has no one else ever fired at an animal only to see it disappear in thick cover? That pig didn't get to be that size by being easy to find. I thought the young man did pretty well - once he started something he saw it through. I don't think there is any reason to disparage his success.

In Canada deer get shot along fence lines, bears get shot from blinds over bait, and in the arctic seals and whales are shot from boats. Everyone has different ideas of what is ethical and what is not. I think it is important to support all lawful hunting activities. If we don't hang together, we will surely hang apart.

Sorry to hear that :(

Don't be. We're fattening a hog right now. I'm feeding him fishfood melmine and weightgain. I figure in 2(two) years we can get him close to 2500 lbs and then we'll turn him loose in a heavily wooded 40 acres parcel to wild him up proper. Now I know just a tiny bit about large hogs so figuring the 400lbs boar I saw waddling at full speed accross the meadow was doing an honest 15 mph , I figure my then 5 year old daughter should be able to keep pace with the mutant boar as she dispatches him with a 10 lb recurve and 50 target arrows. This has all the trappings of a classic daylong hunt, indeed we've already started our webpage design in anticipation of the kill. Fabricating the event, putting one of my own children in to make it even more sensational and then garnering as much negtive attention as I can for the whole sport; man I can't think of anything that's better for hunting. Thank god for the internet!

The real pathetic part of the story is that the pig was a Christmas gift for the original owners wife......only in Alabama.
Headline: "Christmas gift to Thanksgiving ham!"
I can't help but wonder how heavy the wall reinforcement would need to be to mount that head on it! Do people ever get these heads mounted? A little on the scary ugly side for my decor.
If you want to mess your kids up for life you could hang it in thier room with glow in the dark eyes.!:D Muhahahaha!
