I read that they secrete that stinky crap while dying if you don't nail em in the spine, is that true?

I've shot oodles over the years spined ,head and everywhere in between and they all spray.Last body function is to spray.Even cutting them in half at point blank with a 12 ga makes no nevermind..........................and you get a aromatic reminder for a couple months everytime it rains.............unavoidable..................Harold
