Not sure if any of you remember, but a while ago, I posted that Canadian Tire in Belleville had received a shipment of SKS's. I indicated what they were and how much...someone drove quite a distance and didn't receive very good service, and was understandably upset. Things have changed at the gun counter, and there are some new faces. I do not work at the gun counter, nor do I work in the sporting goods department (I have been called upon to cover breaks though occasionally, so I am familiar with what goes on down there). I am the Hardware Manager of the Belleville store, and I am a gunnut as well, so I am just passing on what I saw today.

The gun department received a new batch of Russian SKS's. Two price points...$199.99 for a birch stock, and $219.99 for a laminate. These are all black bolts, refurbed, and come with a sling, oiler, etc... . They are all from the Tula factory, and range from 1952 to 1955 (or 56 as some have the star on the side of the receiver. The birch stock ones are definetly surplus...good shooters, but a little rough around the edges. The laminates are actually quite nice, and there are alot of them that were made in 1955 and 1956. As a side note, they are also selling the crates that these guns came in...not sure of the price on them yet. All have had there mags pinned on the bottom, but done in such a way the serial number on the mag was unaffected.

As I indicated above, I do not work on the gun desk, nor do I persoanlly make any money off these guns. If you have specific questions, I can answer them though. As much as I love SKS's, the guys working at the counter don't share quite the enthusiasm that I do....I have no problem wondering down to gun counter on my break and looking over a gun for someone, and if someone does decide to make the drive, I would be more than willing to go to the counter and make sure everything goes smoothly.
