More WSS Funnies

rem338win i know the dude at russells you are talking about, before he was at russells i had the misfortune of standing behind him in line at the easter gun show while he spouted off about all sorts of crap at the time i thought "what a clown" then he showed up at russells

Having managed a gunshop for 12 years let me tell you that the average guy there makes minimum wage and correct very little practical knowledge......but for that kind of money you aren't going to get the guys who know what they are talking about.

This being said I could fill ten pages of stupid things customers requested, I actually thought about writing a comedy article for a hunting magazine on the things I have seen and heard behind that counter.

One was the guy who came in to buy a new rifle and scope combo with buddy along to help him out. Buddy convinces him he needs a Browning A-Bolt Medallion(no iron sights) with a Bushnell 4 X 12 Scope and "see thru scope mounts for close range" I tried to tell the guy there were no iron sights on this model and maybe he should look at a A-Bolt hunter with sights or a lower magnification scope with standard mounts. He was having no part of that his buddy had been hunting forever and told him this is what he had to have!!!!!!

It's all good to poke fun at WS and Russels, but in my work, I've traveled to Alberta a fair amount over the last two or three years. I've found the customer service in Alta (esp Fort Mac) the worst of any I've had in Canada. Because of the job shortage, employees are hard to replace and there are too many better jobs out there to keep the best staff. It's the downside of your own success.

Try living here in the Maritimes, esp Saint John, where you can't even buy powder or primers in this city of over 100,000. I'd take bad service over no service at all. I do ALL my buying either here on CGN or by mail order.

The best customers out there are the ones who have to do face to face customer service themselves. The worst customers are the well off, impatient, know-it-alls.

That guy sure looks like he's got tons of hunting under his belt, or is that doughnuts???

Thats funny. If he ever shot an animal farther than 50 feet from the truck, I'll bet you it was an accident. But hey, just paste a new face on that guy and you can make as many gun store clerks as you like. He's probably a "tree stand" hunter on the alberta prairies. Geez:rolleyes:

that guy works at the winnipeg wss eh

Just FYI, Russells is owned by WSS, and for quite awhile now.
I called up Russels to order some 44 mag brass and bullets. I ask the guy "can you hold my order at the store and a buddy of mine will pick it up for me?
He replies "as long as he pays for it"
I ask "can't I put it on my credit card over the phone?"
He replies "no, the credit card companies don't want us to do that"
I reply "never mind"
I had just ordered a reloading press and some bullets from Wholesale and had a buddy pick it up and ship it to me in one of our parts shipments less than a week before (since WSS in Edmonton told me it would take A COUPLE OF WEEKS to get what I wanted shipped from the store in Calgary!!!!)

I understand why they don't want to do this (credit card fraud...not shipped to the same address as the card holder) but, if they're owned by the same company, why will one do this, and the other won't??? That was the first time I had ordered from WSS by the way.
It's tempting to call up the general managers of both stores and say "look, I'm desperatly trying to spend money with your company, but your staff doesn't want me to!!!" WTF??

I recently went into a local gun shop (military place) hint, in Edmonton, to buy some 32 special for my Winchester Wrangler. The clerk, who has been there forever, told me "good luck. they haven't made that ammo for about 50yrs." I told him the rifle was a 32 special and it was made in the 1990's and he said "Bullsh*t. they havent made that calibre since just after WWII."

I told him the 32 special was almost like a 30-30 and he told me I better get educated on guns and calibres. So I left and went to Canadian Tire and bought two boxes of "real hard to find ammo" for $21.35 per box.........

I guess I need more education on rifles and ammo guys......help.!

I think next time you're in you should explain the difference between Remington and Winchester to him :D

SC has a good point anyone working at lower end jobs are only there due to needing experience to move on, its not just wholesale sports even gas stations and tim hortons are just as bad, I had a girl ask me the other night if I wanted to pay for fuel when I ran into 7/11 for coffee, my truck was parked out back she was in a big window looking at the pumps and no autos around????? I asked for a new mint choclate supreme icecap at timmies in smithers BC and the girl asked me if I would like whip cream and chocolate drip on that????

its a growing issue north america wide NO ONE takes the time to train employees anymore due to the high turnover rate so you get dumbass and his bum buddy helping you at the counters!
My son is a lead-hand at the wholesale club here and his department has gone through 9 employees in the past 2 months so yea your gonna have to deal with handytards cause there is noone taking work seriously anymore anywere

That IS labeled as a possible Credit Card fraud attempt.

If you have counterfeit money and Wallmart in Edmonton Mall accepts it and the east-side Walmart doesn't...... I see the point of telling the manager to straighten things up. In what way...it's up to you :bsFlag:
