Morning at the Range

V29189***

Regular
0620 - alarm buzzes (I'd been awake lying in bed knowing what is to come ahead)
0630 - auto-coffee starts churning out my gallon of coffee to start my day
0650 - car is packed - off to the range - Cousin's getting coffee
0658 - pull into the Range - First one there - start setting up our lanes. Our range is in a giant quarry site, off in a far corner. All lanes are 35ft wide, and have 10ft sand berm separating the lanes. I picked the 200yd lane for this day.

0710 - I've been setting up targets at varying ranges, placing clay pigeons all over the berms, near and far.
0715 - finally the rest of them show up - I needed another coffee
Brad - Glock 17 9mm
Scottie - Glock __ 45
Me - AR15, and M&P40

Scottie and Brad start blowing up 9" balloons - stapling them to the uprights - we'll use these for speed comps.

0725 - everyone is cleaned, lightly clp'd - loaded and ready to go
warmed up at 15yrds just to get the feeling :) - man I love the smell of gun powder in the morning

after who knows how many rounds, and 2 hours later - its time to clean-up, Scotty's on brass, Brad and I clear out the lanes of all targets.

Arrived to work around 9:30 - hoped in the shower, changed...

I work at a Nissan Dealership - what a way to start a Saturday morning...

till next saturday

"...stapling them to the uprights..." That they put up or the range? Not good if it's the range. The uprights will have to be replaced after you've shot them up.

we use 2"x2"x8' lengths that stand up in these metal plates. 2 per plate, and you staple cardboard targets in between.

Staple the bottoms of balloons to the outside - it looks like a drag race style lighting tree.

you bring in your own wood, and leave it there for the other guys. Broken ones are piled in the woodshed to be used for firewood in the winter.

and of course you rack up the balloon mess (easy)

yeah - I love it - its a 10-12 minute drive if I grab coffee. 5-8 minute if I head straight there. its about 5-6km away...
