Ahhhhhh............aint nothing like morning wood, especially the sort that comes in the mail ( that could be misinterpreted, I'm married, so no PMs boys )

I think this will be the final evolution for the Norc.
Got the stock from Boyds and am VERY happy with the quality. I still have to do a bit of inletting but that was expected. Totally fails the hammer test, but its a quick fix. Got a few bits of metal from Treelinem and the sling from World War for like 26 bucks delivered !
Might have to get USGI butt plate, don't really want to put the files to the stock.
Next step might be to get the whole shebang Parkerised then put it on EE for squillions of dollars LOL

Just waiting for the snow to bugger off then I'll be chasing that flyer again, but not with this set up.

Well that did'nt last long eh LOL
The more I looked at the stock the more I thought it looked like a stained peice of wood, and tooo new for my liking
Soooooo.........

Gave er a rub down with some wire wool and the stain got lighter. Quick wipe down with some spirit and more polishing with wire wool, then 5 coats of beeswax polish.
I prefer this colour to the original and the grain is just poppin now and no harm done.

Boyds were great. ( they actually have stuff in stock, same for Treeelinem and WW. They actually have the stuff on the shelf, so refreshing after buying stuff this side of the border)
Fast and accurate at their end, all went to rats*&t this side of the border.
2 days from Boyds to the border, then 8 days at the border. then Canada Post sent it on a sight seeing tour for 5 days.
Shipping is pricey tho, cost me over 50 bucks,, but worth it to avoid UPS.
And thanks, it is sort of purty :)

Very nice. Is the front sling "swivel" riveted in place like the GI stocks?

Every stock I've ordered from Boyd's will not have the front sling swivel plate installed. They don't provide that plate. Many of you will have to drill out the swivel plate from you Norc stock (balsa wood or black plastic) and bolt it back on to the new walnut stock. :D

While that sling swivel plate is off the plastic or chu wood stock, get it welded right at the "curled" point since the swivel pulls on that curved / curled metal piece under lots and lots of sling tension (with a shooting jacket while competing).

Thanks for posting the gorgeous pics of that walnut stock!

Cheers and keep helping dem noobs out there!

Thank's.

The front swivel is not riveted. I drllled the rivets out of the old Norc stock and replaced them with screws and bolts supplied by Treelinem.
Barney raises a good point tho about welding the curly point, seems like a guy could pull that sucker open with a good pull on the sling.
Just when you think there's nothing left to do eh LOL.
I should mention the sling too. Its the first time Ive ever used a 1907 type sling...........awesome design. Virtually impossible to dislodge the rifle when used properly. Might even have a go with the iron sights meself.
Cheers.

Very, Very Nice. I'm a bit of a wood connoisseur myself.

Thanks Monty.
What is that butt plate you have ? Looks like rubber.
The stock is slightly oversize for the Norc butt plate, and I'm reluctant to file away at the stock to tidy it up.
Your set up has tempted me to try the bipod on mine, as well as reminding me to order a wood handgaurd, yours is gorgeous .
I cant wait to sort out the trigger, but not while I'm on graveyard............not quite awake enough at any time of the day this week LOL

Derek.
