Man I despise scumbags that drive around in the oilfield, farming country etc, and feel the need to stop and shoot road signs.

Wifey and I were going for a walk in Whitecourt, the other night. Right in town, on the road going down to the Athabasca R, there's a sign that some idiot had shot up. Are you kidding me!? It's retarded anywhere, but inside town limits!?

The sad thing is, the majority of these signs being shot up, are by so-called 'hunters'.

Which throws us all under the bus...

I agree. Also shooting old TV's and microwaves and leaving a pile of empty casings and shotgun shells and huge mess in the bush makes all gun owners look bad.

Then the residents of the area find rounds in their backyard and are happy to attribute it to the nearest range.... Even if it's too far for the rounds to possibly travel that far....

Then the County and CFO press and press the safety "issue" until a good range closes....

Yes, the sign shooters are doing great work!

Went hunting couple years ago with my dad and some friends, one of our buddies brought a friend. We pulled up and got out of the trucks and the new guys said "hold on need to check my rifle zero" and shot at a stop sign on the grid road and when he hit the center of O he said good enough. My dad grabbed his rifle pulled the bolt and handed it back to him and said he isn't hunting with us today.
Nothing surprises me anymore there are stupid people everywhere and they seem to keep reproducing in a room of 10 people gaurantee one of em is a jackass.

There was a "Doctor" busted for sign shooting out near Kamsack a couple years ago.

I hear he has openings incase any of you need a doc......

Tight Groups,

Around here it is really, really bad. It is not just the shooting signs but destroying things for everybody else. The total lack of respect that is going on is terrible. Last year I seen a guy about 50 yrs old so drunk he could hardly walk, pile out of hunting truck with a rifle and try to call a moose.

You think it's bad here-years ago down in Palmdale out of LA I noticed the stop signs all shot up and my wifes cousin who lives there says the stop signs were replaced EVERY WEEK.My wife's folks lived in Glendale and you would wake up at 3am any night and you see the police helicopter circling overhead with the searchlight on and hear gunshots all over .....bunch of wacko's,wouldn't live there for any money

Somebody sent me a cartoon saying 'why are we spending billions to find intelligent life on other planets when there's a scarcity of intelligent life on earth?'

Hunters have shot up signs and committed other vandalizam forever. It was probably worse fifty years ago than it is now.
During the years of resident mass hunting following WW2, a great many new hunters from the lower mainland would buy a new rifle and shells, then head north for a week or two of hunting, without firing their new rifle even once.
The BC game department realized the problem, so ten miles north of Clinton, on the only road to the north, they built a hundred yard shooting range, right beside the road, so hunters could stop and sight in their rifles. They had a good back stop and several tables to shoot from. It was great, but it lasted only a short while.
It had been there through two hunting seasons when I stopped and looked at it. The whole place was shot up! Power and telephone lines ran by and hunters had stuck targets on power poles and shot up the poles. There were broken insulators at the bottom of every pole in range.
The next time I went by the range was completely cleared out, large signs stated, "NO SHOOTING." and the area was turned into a rest area stop for travellers.
Without doubt, we can state that the damage was done by regular hunters on legitimate hunting trips.
Sorry guys, but that's the way it was.

I hate when people shoot the gauges off my high pressure sour gas well heads, and pipeline risers. Someday someone will shoot one that has an open valve under it and die.

You're kidding??? Someone is that f-Ing stupid?? If you're not kidding, they should die, as per Darwin. It's what's best for all of us.

Do you guys have surveillance cameras on them??

For some people it seems that they are born with brains and trigger fingers but only the blood supply to run one at a time.I think the CORE program helped immensely ,at least in lowering the accident rate but you can't fix stupid...

The people shooting the signs must realize that we all pay for it including themselves. Aside from being a safety issue the taxman will come a knocking to cover replacement of the sign and labour. It burns me!

We had a guy shoot up a dynamite magazine. It is a mystery why no one died.
Never, ever underestimate the power of stupidity.

Unreal.

To anyone on here reading this, doing anything this f-Ing stupid....watch yourself. If anyone of us catch you or find out, expect a visit. We like our sport, and you make us look like the retards the liberals paint us as.

Don't think that the occasional 9mm or 38cal hole hasn't been poked in a stop sign by a bored copper or to win a bet with his partner...but it is embarrassing to call yourself a hunter when so many steal private property (canoes, game cams) and shoot up or otherwise destroy private and public property!

There are way too many people who own guns who ARE idiots and probably should not have them. It's an unfortunate truth. I see the proof anywhere that people congregate to shoot. The hunting and shooting community loses a lot of support every time someone does the things like this forum is illustrating, and it never ceases to amaze me how stupid it can get (especially when, as is mentioned, they shoot stuff that they will have to pay for themselves eventually). Not knowing what is actually in your own best interest, is the ultimate in stupid.

I don't know how we can stop it, but it is a serious problem that hurts us all because we all get tarred with the same brush.

I know the type. Found this gem of a spot the other day. Pretty fkn sad considering it's the result f a 5$ fee put in at the dump, not too mention a creek that belongs to a major watershed runs right through through the place. Paints a great picture of us and or sport. Sadly these places are down every fsr within 100km of here in every direction.I truly hate some people.
