Morons that shoot signs

My god, this thread resonates with me. I took a roadtrip across Canada this summer from Ontario all the way to Inuvik. After you get past Dease Lake/Toad River in terms of being North, almost every sign has been shot multiple times. If you ever drive the Dempster highway, I bet you would have a hard time finding a SINGLE sign which has not been blasted. If you look at my Avatar, it is the Arctic Circle Monument on the Dempster Highway. This thing is quite large and beautiful with lots of info and pictures on it... and it has be blasted over a 100 times by every caliper of rifle and shotgun load/slugs. I was so suprised at how prevalent shooting signs is up North in the Yukon and NWT, it's like it's illegal to shoot proper targets or something...

You're kidding??? Someone is that f-Ing stupid?? If you're not kidding, they should die, as per Darwin. It's what's best for all of us.

Do you guys have surveillance cameras on them??
No, I'm not kidding man. It's ridiculous. Not much for surveillance out in the boonies. Never mind the fact that the RCMP don't give a rats a&& when we turn in surveillance footage of our plant being broken into. Meanwhile, these armed a&&hat thugs are running around shooting everything in sight, and I'd be fired on the spot if I had a gun in my truck.

Brutal.

What would a blowout cost if the well was pressured up?? 1M?? More??

What's worse is people who dump unwanted dogs and cats that MY kids ' rescue' ,fall n love with and I end up having to take them into the SPCA to be put down..

Could be millions. All depends on what is released. It'd be nasty if say a plume of 1% sour gas was spewing out of a 1" ball valve. One breath of that and you're dead before you hit the ground, so it'd kill anything nearby. If it had sour condensate in the plume, it'd be worse because then you'd have a sour gasoline like liquid spraying into the air. Now, what if there's a creek, lake, river, pond, highway, etc nearby? The potential for disaster is crazy when you have 8000kpa pressure! That's why we lock valves shut. BUT then I guess the lock becomes a more challenging target than a 4" gauge face at 50 friggin meters.

These so called hunters feel so good about themselves shooting a defenseless sign.

most likely, they aren't hunters at all, but guys that feel cool shooting anything at all

I'm working in Northern Finland. Finland is a country with a high % of the population who are hunters.

On the northern highways and secondary roads the road signs have ZERO bullet holes. I mean none and I looked intentionally.

We should be ashamed of what goes on in Canada.

My Scandanavian relatives have always been amazed by the amount of garbage lying around in the wilderness areas in this country. BC seems to be particularly bad especially as you go further north in the province.

We just drove a chunk of the Pacific Marine Circle route on southern Vancouver Island. We drove the section
from Cowichian to Renfrew. Every single sign for 60km was shot up, dozens and dozens. This is a road that is famous as a beautiful day trip.
Every tourist from local and abroad must think gun owners are a bunch of @#$holes.

1/10th of 1% will kill you instantly.... But ya, your right. Downwind and your done. Some people just don't know what they are screwing around with. One guy goes down then his buddies run in to get him and they drop, now they are all dead.

Here's the drill as I'm sure you already know:

1 Evacuate - get to safe area

2 Alarm - call for help

3 Assess - Do a head count, check for other hazards

4 Protect - Put on positive pressure breathing apparatus

5 Rescue - remove victim to safe area

6 Revive - CPR if necessary

7 Medical aid - arrange transport to medics, provide info to medics

Yeas ago someone shot up our rig up in WorsleY. Drillers pad, sand line controls, shot the #### outa the doghouse, shot tires, shot holes our kelly hoses and auction lines, stole our tools etc completely ransacked the place. I also remember a polish rod/string/pump change from some shooting the polish rod and the bridal. Found many many gauges shot out.

Just look at my previous post. Sadly anywhere with decent access looks like this. Its ####ing embarrassing, this is what people want to leave behind for their kids to enjoy!?

That sounds like an angry fired employee, or thwarted spouse....

You ever see the collection of pics from when the dude came back to the lease and literally buried every piece of iron on the place???? All that was left was the tips of d7 cabs!!!

Thinkin more along the lines of pissed locals in a town of like 50 dealing with retarded rig crews and oil field workers constantly pulling drunk ass shenanigans and stealing all their women. No never seen that, sounds like a ####ty day to me.

Every shot up road sign merely validates the Liberal view that all guns should be banned, and every gun owner is a Neanderthal.Tough to present a rational arguement than firearms owners are law abiding responsable people with somebody whose only image of a gun is a bunch of shot up road signs...guess how they are going to vote when a politician presents a 'rational' gun control law?

Offroading years back north of Bala Ontario we used to use the hydro line fields due to the road/trails access. One time we see two or three guys aiming at the line insulators and trying to hit them. I told them I worked for the ministry and wanted to see some ID, they hoped on their three wheeled ATV's and took off. Not sure if they were bad shots or the insulators are stronger than on normal hydro poles but they didn't knock down any lines.

What would even make someone want to try to shoot one down? What do they think will happen when they do? At a minimum your talking fires and power outage with a hot cable the thickness of your arm bouncing all around. How can that be fun?

Agree 100%.

These a$$holes are our equivalent of ISIS to Muslims. In both situations it's crucial that the non-retard majority denounce the stupidity and change the culture such that being a retard is not seen by anyone as "cool".

I was posted to gagtown back in the late80's early 90's, every sign on Shirly road from range control to blue mountain had a round through it. Ant that's on an Army base.
