I have always had good experiences with SIR. They had Gew 98s on sale a few years ago, so I went in and had a look, came home with a 1915/1920 Reichswehr rifle, originally a Mauser-Werke Gew98........ and a cmpletely unmarked rifle from that 1920s secret program, absolutely mint bore. Of course, everything else looked like crap, but what I came hom with could be made to shoot...... and really does.
Their 91/30 MNs look good on the outside, bores seem good as well. Only fly in the ointment is the fact that any Moisin-Nagant is a hard rifle to bed solidly. But they CAN be made to shoot and, at the price, who cares about a few little stamps on the side of the barrel where most people don't look, anyway. They are STILL genuine historical pieces. If anything, the silly import stamps are just another part of their story.
Buy one, shoot it, have fun! Then go buy another!
