Found this one last saturday at a local show,..nothing exciting 1942 Izzy refurb, all matching aside from the bolt,..what is different is the stock on this rifle,no shellac, almost an oil type finish.Does not appear to have been sanded, markings are crystal clear...I'm thinking this stock was a replacement during the refurb process, and appears new...any more out there,or is this a refinish job...?..

I would need to see some photos to determine which finish it is and if it is original.

There were definitely some ersatz finishes in 1942-1943 and some of them appear to be nothing more than an oiled finish (BLO). Typical finish is a linseed oil base after mordant dye and nitrocellulose lacquer (VK-1). Final varnish did include shellac at least in post 1945 production but is not just simply shellac. This process was simplified in 1941?? to include less lacquering and polishing.
