I was quite shocked after the first few shots..:)

two 5/8 steel plates were welded together 10" diameter, shooting at it fr 100m with an ex sniper mosin mfs fmj ammo

FMJ ammo will punch through a lot of steel.

We use to shoot 8x57 Turkish and Venezuelan surplus at a 1 inch mild plate and 100 yrds.
It did exactly the same thing -swiss cheese like slab of steel.

Makes one wonder about all those guys in movies using cars for cover among other things...

I received a green crate of Czech ammo that was steel core. Still got some too, it's spooky stuff. hammer away at 'er with an SVT at dusk, sparks be flying. That'll make you hunker down...

I had a 5/8" thick mild steel plate, 6" round plate, setup to swing on impact. Shot it in the Arizone desert at around 75 yards with Norinco silver box ball from my SKS. My drillers were there and laughed as the plate didn't move. When I went to the plate there were 10 (we were in Arizona) clean holes through the plate. Went through it like butter.

I can't help but notice the holes through the frame as well... :p

Still I know even SP hunting rounds leave one hell of a ding in heavy steel so I'm not surprised steel jackets do that.
