Mosin bolt/trigger issue?

Dad just gave me his Mosin Nagant, guess he didn't like it much. will probably drag it out to the range on Wednesday. though I noticed one thing while checking it out.... when I take up the slack on the trigger, the bolt moves up [vertically] a little bit, 2-3mm I would suppose.

Is this normal for a Mosin, or is something 'up'?

Yes it is totally normal.
Its just the sear tensioning up from the trigger pulling down on the sear spring.
My 91/30 does it and my old M44 did it as well.
