Mosin in Syria

the action sound is so clear, i almost thought that was ripped from a video game.
i like the way they shoot, sights are for pussy anyway. Heh, guys!

A little irrelevant but still pertaining to the syrian conflict: anyone notice how the presidents name is Al-Assad and how in the video game call of duty 4, the bad guy you're going after in the middle east is also named Al-Assad? Lol

War sucks. Bad people do bad things, good people try to stay alive, some people see bad things, and then do bad things. War bad.

Mosin good. The Mosin Nagant, Mauser, and Lee Enfield will still be shooting in sh1tty situations for centuries yet. It only takes one bullet, the man who knows how to place it, always exceeds the effect of the Rambo spray machine.

Ah Syria. So let me see. We have a ruthless dictator who used the military and a semi-modern airforce whom, among other things, appears to have dropped sarin gas on his own people who are trying to arrange his retirement.

Then we have the opposition, which while it contains some legitimate opposition political types, now seems to be made up primarily of Hezbollah foreign fighters, equipped and ideologically led by Iran and Al Quaeda, who are hoping the government that replaces the secular (yet evil) Assad will be an Islamic Republic in pursuit of the global Caliphate.

All the while the Christian minority and unaffiliated populace are being slaughtered in the crossfire.

Hmm... tough to decide who to back, isn't it? Of course, Russia backs Assad due to the very favourable deal he cut them, exchanging cold war era munitions and currency for deep water port access for the Russian mediterranean fleet. Anything else you hear is BS - Russia supports Assad entirely out of self-interest.

Frankly, if it were not so dysfunctional today, this is the type of mission a 1950's-era UN would/should have intervened in. Of course, Russia would veto it.

Now if only NATO weren't led by a democrat looking to pay for entitlements for the unemployed democrat-voting masses. Maybe something could be done to save the lives of those caught in between :(

Nicely summed up. I couldn't agree with you more, that's the whole ball of wax in a nutshell.

Hezbollah Iran etc. is backing Assad. Apparently.

That sums it up ........ Isn't going to end on a good note ... Guess I mean... It isn't going to end.

there was a thread some time back in this sub-forum where a posted video showed a large number of shipping crates full of STG44 rifles as well as cases of ammo. another video posted alleged to show some of the Syrian opposition in action with the STG44s

Hezbollah and Iran are backing Assad. Hezzbollah and the Syrian army are currently in a major battle to take the very important/strategic town Qusair back from the rebels.

There are so many foreign fighters in Syria and apparently Qatar and Saudi Arabia are providing military officers. Britain is going to arm some of the many different rebel factions soon: Britain To Arm Syrian Rebels; Russia Retaliates By Shipping 10 MiGs To Assad

The US is also thinking about providing arms to the rebels. Israel has already bombed Syria. I doubt Russia wants to lose their only port in the Mediterranean Sea and they are giving Assad a lot of support and most likely the S-300:

Moscow threatens to speed missiles to Syria but also offers to delay

Can’t forget about Turkey providing support for the rebels.

That place is a mess. Millions of lives ruined.

Heres some pretty sporty videos from a Russian combat journalist on the SSA side ,, there is some pretty graphic stuff on that YT channel i wont post here ..

Just another day in ME. If these Islamic nutcases are not fighting each other, they will be picking a fight with Israel, US & god knows who else. It's better that they go kill each other and leave the rest of the world alone.

There has been, pardon the pun, an "unholy" relationship between the Syrian regime and the Shia Iranians since the Ayatollah took over back in 1979. The Iranians have used Syria as a conduit to send people and weapons to S. Lebanon to wage a proxy war against the Israelis for many years. The Syrians benefit from this, and also from financial support from Iranian oil. One of the most bizarre things I ever saw was the Iranian practice of sending "war widows" from the Iran/Iraq war to Damascus by the 747 load. They would enjoy a government paid holiday in Damascus, the highlight of which was to be bussed out to the ceasefire line on the Golan Heights where they would whoop and holler and wave their fists at the Israelis. These pilgrims would arrive laden with Iranian carpets and mosaic boxes and mosaic framed pictures which they would flog to the merchants in the souks for vacation money. Prices on carpets and these mosaic works dropped dramatically and I, for one, enjoyed shopping for these.
