Mosin M38 questions

Was never really interested in Mosins as I didn't like how long and cumbersome they are. I stumbled across the M38 Mosin carbine the other day and started to become intrigued.

I was wondering what a good fair price for them is these days, and where I could find one?
 
Missed out on that one that just sold and all the M44 polish ones are a little rich for my taste. Guess I will just keep an eye on the EE
 
Already have a No.4 Mk.1 and East German K98, wanted a Russian wartime rifle to go with the collection but didn’t like 91/30
 
Yes I understand they are just short 91/30 but that’s what I like about them, I never liked how long and rear balanced the full sized Mosins are. The Finnish M39 are nice but I refuse to pay $1300 for a Mosin.

Even that is a little pricey for me, I spent less than that on both my K98 and No.4 which in my opinion are nicer rifles. Maybe I’ll give up the Mosin dream and look for something else. Max I would want to spend on an M38 is around $450.
 
M38 is my favorite Mosin and I have all of them.... I'd gladly have another. Fantastic little bush rifle. And the one I have is pretty accurate at 100m i shot a couple of 2 inch groups with irons and PRC surplus. It's my favorite rifle to finish off the day for new shooters as well as the fireball gun that kicks like a 12ga.

I'd happily pay for another in good shape. As is the one I have was $300 a couple yrs ago but the seller failed to disclose the crack at the left side of the reciever (pictures of everything but) fixed it the Russian way with a pin and glue. If you have a M38 you want to sell please PM me first to discuss a deal.
 
I’ll keep a look out for one. I like how short they are and it would be nice to have a larger caliber rifle that is still somewhat affordable to shoot often.

Canada Ammo currently has one but they want $700 which is a tad pricey for me
 
I bought a m91/38 Carbine on the EE here a while back! I like it cause it’s a M38 with a hex receiver to put it simply. Super fun gun to shoot! Everyone need a Mosin Carbine of some kind.

Wish I could find one like that, beautiful looking rifle and that fireball that comes out to the muzzle just looks fun.
 
Well that looks like FUN! Wonder if I should go load up on some 7.62 x 54R while it is still cheap and while I search for a Mosin. I can buy 880 round for cheaper than 400 rounds of .303 or 8mm
 
I've got 4 Mosin carbines. They are real fun and I also prefer shooting them over the M/91s.
