Hi fellaws, I'm thinking about a mosin repro sniper, P&S militaria seem have nice ones. Thoses sniper are well made? What about the quality of the mounting setup? And how they perform? I have dealed with P&S last winter, great service but i want somes advices about the their repro sniper and the price seem right too! Thanks for helping:)

I have only handled guns like the ones you speak of. And here is why I've only handled them.....
I saw for sale about 6 of these sniper reproductions. I was immediately curious being a Mosin Nagant fan.
I asked the clerk to see ALL of them. The scopes were in immaculate condition (repros) but the rifles were some of the poorest quality guns I had yet seen. None had matching numbers and some had BADLY ground of numbers and electro penciled numbers that still didn't match on top. The one gun that was supposed to be a match was a force match since the numbers were stamped but in different fonts of numbers.
All had HORIFIC play in the bolt,bolt head,carrier bar... well except one maybe I couldn't check out its bolt since the trigger was broken and the bolt couldn't be removed for my inspection.
In short the guns were general service rifles that hand been badly abused their whole life and could not be sold any other way than to throw a scope on them and attract an uninformed customer.
I considered the cost ($700-800) and the scope + mount would need to cost $650-750 before it would be cost effective to buy the gun because the guns themselves were only $50 rifles in my view. I also considered that a 3.5x20mm scope and mount should NEVER cost that much!
So at E------ E--- they still sit....unless a fool has come by since.
In which case;
" they look good from a far,especially going into the trunk of someone else's car!"
Give EE some more room for good guns! Buy a Bubba'd Mosin Nagant!

I picked up an original sniper, non original base with 'repro' scope for ~$500.. why buy a bubbad rifle when originals are so affordable?
 
Can a PU mount be put on a Mosin with octogonal receiver? Or work only on round receiver? I ask because i have a M91/30 with excellent bore but octogonal receiver, also have import stamp on receiver so i'm thinking to convert him if can be done ofc.

You can get an original one for about $800.

Trade-Ex, Milarms, P&S are repros. Original ones sell for a minimum of $1,500.00, if you can find one. Last one to sell on the EE Forum went for $1,000.00 a few years and most of the original markings had been ground off.
