I have a russian Mosin Nagant M91/30
i would like to install the ww2 scope on it but my budget is tight currently

do i have any alternatives to install a scope on it without permanantely altering my Mosin?
i found really cheap scopes on dealextreame website ( from hong kong, they have all kinds of good deals)
ww w.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.914
i basically want to shoot it at longer ranges than 100 meters ( my eyesight doesnt is letting me down)

thanks in advance

Unless you get a "no gunsmith" mount that replaces (not permanently) the rear sight leaf, you would have to drill and tap the receiver. Personally I'm not too fond of permanently altering milsurps.

Some folks have taken "ex sniper" mosins and drilled the original scope mounting holes that had been welded - that is different, since a "historically correct" scope is being reinstalled.

i;m completely against the idea of drilling and tapping the receiver.
if i get those scout scopes, do i still need the bent bolt handle?

I used a B-Square mount on a scout rifle I made out of parts.

Killed a couple bears with it too.

Drill away!

You can always buy another.

Just dont botch it.

If you ever get bored of the gun you can always flog it off to someone else.

Mardig,

S&K makes a "no gunsmith" mount, for about 80 USD that has had some pretty good reviews. Here is the mfg's pic of their 91/30 mount.
