The mosin has such a light barrel that it likes to jump a bit. Has anybody put a muzzle brake on a mosin? Was it successful to reduce the recoil? Anybody have any pictures of there mosin with or without a muzzle brake?

I got a NC STAR nagant brake and it is very heavy and does not fit on x3 nagants I tried it on. It now rests out in the woods where I threw it. Possibly a slug could make a home out of it.I see that West Rifle has a new type for the nagant but I do not know if they are any better than the useless nc star crap one.

Mosin is a heavy rifle and even with 200grain bullets kicks less than most magnums. Although a break may tone down the muzzle rise, its not like you can speed fire anyways with a heavy bolt action, so whats the point? The most notable effect you will observe is that it gets uncomfortably loud. However said, Westrifle has a selection of pinned and non-pinned muzzle breaks.

Someone gave me a clamp on brake for the M44 that locks on behind the sight. While it *seemed* to have some effect, it quickly destroyed the hinge of the clamp, rendering it junk.

Seems to be made out of pot metal of some sort. I'd not waste a dime on one, personally, and since I'm now shooting lighter cast loads accumulated recoil from a long bench session is no longer an issue. I only use the aftermarket rubber recoil pad to increase the length of pull.
