hey I bought a Mosin Nagant Pu from Westrifle and it just came in. I am extremely happy with the service and the rifle, but I need help with it, mostly the stock on the rifle. I am wondering what kind of stock it is (hardwood, laminate) and it is different from my normal Mosin Nagant 91/30 from the same year (1943) and same arsenal (Izhevsk), its different where the rear barrel band is, on my non pu one it has a inlet cut into it so you can take off the barrel band easier and on my pu one it does not, and the trigger is different on my pu one, it has less wobble and is a smoother pull. Also the PU version looks about 1/4 inch longer then the normal 91/30, and lastly the front sling loop has only the bottom peice of metal on it not the full loop. thanks for any help! I have pictures but do not know how to add them, I do not see where to add them

Congrats! I really want one for my collection!

Pics will certainly help, you need to host them through a site like photobucket - there is a how to article in FAQ.

Yes those sling loop escutcheons are not unusual. Have seen them many times. They were faster to install for the wartime production, eventually during the war they eliminated the metal escutcheons all together. You would expect the trigger on a sniper rifle would be smoother and as you said with less wobble. I am no expert on the snipers, but I think they chose the best of production and did extra work on them to turn them into the Sniper variant of M91/30. I can't speak to all the changes, maybe others can chime in on the other points you mentioned.
