Mosin Nagant at SIR

I've got one. They only have M44's left, but that's not necessarily a bad thing  They're refurbs that were imported by Century International Arms, and come with a little pamphlet with operating, disassembly & cleaning instructions, along with a little blurb on the history of the rifle. Mine has an Izhevsk stamp, all numbers-matching with a mirror bore, although the rifling isn't exactly razor sharp (but whaddya expect, the damn rifle is older than my dad for chrissakes!). Everything feels tight and VERY smooth, the trigger is a tad heavy but breaks clean, and the wood is in excellent shape with no big dings or scratches. I'm very happy with mine :D

As far as ammo is concerned, I'd go with Marstar's Czech stuff since it appears to be cheapest and higher quality than any other ammo I've seen advertised. I'm working on digging up a set of dies so I can pack my own rounds for hunting, but the whole point of having a milsurp is the cheap surplus ammo, right? So have you ordered one yet? lol!

I got one about 3 weeks ago and it was the last one they had in WPG. Its an M44 and is in excellent condition. Dated 1948, all matching it was pretty much never used. I took it to a friend who is a CF small arms expert, collector and spent 3 years in the soviet army (he knows his $hit).

He said he had never seen one in such good condition and figured that is was a parade piece by the finish on the stock. It would seem that i have put more rounds through it in the last couple months then in the last 60 years. Its a fantastic buy I seriously doubt you can get anything approaching the level of quality, durability or firepower for the price.

I don't know what SIR has now but the one I got was a great buy. The only thing that approaches it would be the chicom m14 at marstar IMHO.

How's SIR from the customer service and reliability standpoing? I took a dive and ordered a Butler Creek slip on pad from them after the nightmare with Canadian Camo was resolved thru a chargeback by VISA.

Thanks, hoping I will get a so needed pad for my M44 mosin. It bruised my shoulder again last weekend.

hahaha, it is a bit of a sholder fired artillery piece. Much louder then any other 30 cal I've ever fired too. I love it!

Suprathepeg did get the last one. I called this afternoon. Just have to get one from P&S. Does anyone else in Canada stock them or sell them online? I would like an M44 to go with my 91/30 and SVT-40.

What is P&S

A purveyor of fine quality firearms. Do a google search for P&S Militaria because I don't think we can link to non-sponsoring dealers here on the forums.

I have bought a 91/30 and an SVT-40 from him. The 91/30 is great and I will post how the SVT 40 is tomorrow. First time using it will be in two hours. If it shoots as good as it looks I am going to be a very happy camper. :D

The only downside to P&S Mosins is that they appear to all have the ugly Century dot matrix import marks. :(

The one I got from SIR has these as well. They definetely look stupid, but the rest of the rifle is in such good shape that I just can't complain

P&S has SVT-40's? Hmmmm, might have to take a look...

The P&S website lists the conditions of each gun, (marked, counter bored, stock scrapes etc), and I have found them to be accurate. I have bought quite a few (5+) and have been more than pleased with each transaction.

Are all his mosins counterbored? :(

No, only some of the carbines. My 91/30 isn't counterbored.

The SVT-40 is the loudest thing ever :D . Very fun, I highly recommend them. I forgot to take the camera or I would post a thread with pictures. Next time.

Report of M44 sounds louder to me than of SVT.
I am definitely going to have to get an M44

Gee it kinda makes me feel special, lol.

I'd actually say wait and see if SIR gets anymore in. Everyone who I have talked to regarding a mosin purchase at SIR was really happy with the piece they recieved. Sometimes you just don't know until you clean off the cosmo with some importers.
