Mosin Nagant ATI stock?

I'm mounting a scope one it and want the higher comb so I can still use my cheek. And the rifle I got is in such prestine condition that I don't want to ruin the wooden one hunting. If I pick up one of the ati ones then I won't have to worry.

For the price you are going to pay for the ATI stock you could prob' buy another Mosin...besides which consider what level of abuse those rifles where built for. :D

I know that the rifle isn't worth much but it might be in the future and the stock is so nice I just want to store it.

If you're drilling the rifle to mount the scope, any collector value will be ruined. The stock might end up being worth more than the barrelled action.

I have one of these things :( . I tried to get it to fit the Mosin, but it was in vain. Everytime I put it in the stock, there was a "springy feel". You could feel the action moving up and down a bit from the stock flexing. I tried shaving a bit from the barrel channel, checking other pints of contact, never did get it to fit right. Like SKScanuck, I went and got a hardwood one from Numrich.

(E)

I put an ATI stock on my Hungarian M44, it took quite a bit of dremeling to get it to fit right and I glass bedded it. I love it, the recoil is actually a pleasure. Worth the hassle, love the rifle.

I am using a darrell's mount so there should be no perminent damange to the rifle.

Glad to hear that.

I think there's a bubba'd M38 in the EE right now, sportered stock and bent bolt handle. Not sure if it was drilled for mounts. It was in the $150 (and dropping) range last time I saw it. Might want to explore a previously bubba'd rifle as an option.

I've got an M44 that bubba added a chunk of wood to make it more of a straight-line type stock, and a recoil pad too. It's quite enjoyable to shoot that way. Since it was already hacked, I just had to paint it. BBQ paint and Krylon OD.:p
