Why isn't there any aftermarket hand guards like a vented hand guard or some other cool thing to put there?

Simple, because there are so few Mosin Nagants in Canada and the USA its not like they are common inexpensive rifles like the SKS

Original is thin as it is. You cut out more wood out of it, it will crack.
MN is made the way it is on purpose, each part was thought through throughout generations. So unless you change stock, leave it be
