If you look on the 2-nd page- http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=14&t=339567&page=2 you'll see the receiver is not original.May be they used heat to take of this the barrel,you never know who fixed this rifle and why this receiver was changed.Maybe a tank drove over it.Who knows.

Thjere is a sign on the barrel saying this barrel was set back and rechambered.
Maybe they didn't set it back sufficiently and wrenched it in like hamfisted goblins and it developed a crack from that constant overpressure coupled with rounds fired.
You can see that a good part of the crack is corroded from a long time exposure. That it took so long to open is a tribute to the toughness of the design.
