Hello,

I have a Sestroyetsk M-91 Mosin Nagant which has seen German and Finnish service, but the trigger has NOT been modified... I found on this non-Finnish modified trigger, that there is no double-stage on my Mosin. It is a single, long pull, getting tighter and tighter until it snaps, firing the round. Is this common for non Finned triggers? (All the Mosins I have owned to date have been Finned). I have noticed on my friend's M-91 that his Mosin Nagant, as well, has this slow one stage pull, but his trigger HAS been Finned. Reasons? Can the trigger be modified to be double stage?

P.S. How would a gunsmith go about making a rifle or pistol pull "less weight". A friend of mine has a Nagant 1895 revolver and I have thought of getting one, but I find the 21.5 lb double action trigger pull far too excessive and am curious how it could be backed off to say, 12-10 lbs?

Thanks,
Drachenblut

This is very, very common on my Soviet made, Finn capture/purchase Mosins and my non Finned Mosins.

Very common, my 2 m91/30,m91 and my polish m44 are that way.

Try looking through ww.surplusrifle.com . They have a few non-invasive tricks to modify the trigger pull on an M 91/30. They worked on mine. Nothing req'd but some brass shim stock and time.

Ya I red locktited some shim stok to my trigger then polished it to thickness with a dremel until the trigger pull was a safe weight as this little trick dramatically reduces trigger pull slop and weight and needs to be done carefully and tested to ensure safety.(With action out of gun #### bolt and "slam" into a piece of soft pine block(2x42etc)to see if gun will "slamfire"( as if loaded gun were to be dropped or jared)if it will decock the bolt then take aparrt and polish more shim thickness away. Make sure not to bend the spring steel trigger seer.
