Just an fyi too, this thread will likely be moved to milsurp section. I know it's a "red rifle" but it falls under the military surplus umbrela

I'd appreciate some clarification of this. What determines what Soviet milsurps should be discussed in which forum section? Other milsurps like the SKS are often disccussed in the 'red rifles' section. The SKS may not be a WWII milsurp, but its still a Soviet army milsurp, just like the Mosin.

I always found the organization of the thread topics a bit redundant and confusing.
I would have just had a milsurp thread which included Russian stuff as 99% of all "red" guns owned by your average person are old milsurp (unless anyone is currently importing any non-military surplus soviet firearms these days?) Barring of course the CZ-858 but even that could have been lumped under milsurp as it's been around since 1959 and was at one time issued to the Czech military (hence "milsurp").
Military surplus does not really denote a time frame of any specification. it just means old stuff that was at one time issued to forces and now is not which creates a "surplus" for the commercial market to buy and shoot.
But we play shuffle the thread instead of fixing the problem

Hey, that's great. Thanks Travis Bickle. Even if they were to clarify things a bit better, that would help.

For instance, if the 'milsurp' section is supposed to be for WWII and older, and the 'red rifles' for newer stuff, then the titles should indicate that I think. I actually like your idea that the red rifles should be included in the milsurp. Maybe 'milsurp' should be its own greater section, with subsections like 'red rifles' underneath it.

Anyways, I just wanted to point out the confusion for a new guys like me, and get a clearer understanding of the reasons for the current setup.

I was going to ask why it got moved but opted out as I don't really care. But as you pointed out the sks is mil surp but is alowed on the red rifle forum, but my nagant thread was moved... Even though it is a red rifle from the evil comblock and made by evil baby eating commies...
