Mosin on the way, have questions

Right on. Thanks for the reply SVT40. I picked up a box of MFS 203 grain sp ammo today and I'll take my new Mosin out for the first time. The MFS is made in Germany and I think its non-corrosive. The cases are nickle washed and steel(?). Can this stuff be re-loaded?

Cheers, Steve.
I think its russian made, case are steel zinc plated,non-corrosive but berdan primed so not easily reloadable.

Ok that makes sense. I think it should be more accurate than the milsurp ammo anyway. I guess for re-loadable brass Sellier and Belliot is the only one that makes brass cartridges that can be re-loaded.

Cheers, Steve.

Not to digress your post, but have you tried LVE ammunition from Westrifle? It shoots better than MFS and surplus. For the 70 cents per round to reload, LVE shoots pretty darn fair for about 60/load. I can load a more accurate round, but I don't improve much or save anything.

I had Mojo sights on M44 and I wasn't big fan of those.I much prefer original irons on any and all rifles. From my experience older Konovalov sights on M91 MN are better than those on 91/30.

Have you ever tried them? With practice they are very good set.Try them before you spend money.

I didnt shoot my M91/30 and M44 yet but like you said, my old M91 served me pretty well with irons, long time i didn't fired it, i must do it soon:)

does anyone have experience with the 100$ rifles coming out of westrifle? I'd been planning to get mine from tradeex just based on their advertising the bores as "very good to excellent", but if the ones out of westrifle and coming better than advertised... this may change things!

I have several Mosins from Westrifle, maybe 4 or 5 of them in the last year and a half. I've slugged the last few 100 dollar specials and the bores are strong with good edge, next to new. If you're looking for a shooter, its not much of a gamble as the bores are next to excellent. Shipping is about 25 bucks and I usually recieve them within 3 days.

Heres mine from Westrifle after i stripped the schalac with steel wool and Circa 1850, I Stained it with Minwax Gunstock stain and rubbed 3 coats of tung oil on it.

I think it looks alot better than the way it was but for the price you cant complain.
