If you figure it out for sure please let us know...:D

Remember, on Gunboards etc. they've found that these fall into known sniper serial number ranges. Hard to fake that.

where did they get the SN ranges from? korea/vietnam/grenada? bringbacks or published data?

they are as real as you will see ever again as they arent makeing anymore the rifles are war time manufactuer as are the scopes may not be with the original rifle but they were there ,the price of the scope is 5 so you get an original pu sniper for 1 not a bad deal as far as im concerned

Mine came in from TradeEx.
1943 Izhevsk with non dated PU scope. Everything matches, but the only thing that was re-stamped was the mag floor plate. Scope mount is electro-pencilled. Condition of bluing is very good. Some places show patina and scope mount/base bluing is different coloured than rifle.
Stock has no refurb box/slash marks and is actual war time configuration. Shellac is darker on the forearm than elsewhere. There are shims on the underside of the trigger guard and one in the recoil lug with some kind of minimal epoxy. You can surmise that these sniper models were worked over for accuracy. Trigger is decent for around 5lbs, but I can improve that much better if I choose.
Scope and mount are perfectly setup @ 300 meters and the reticle sits in the top third of the scope. All screws are staked into place. Barrel bore looks very good, but would not call it excellent. Some throat and muzzle wear. Ran a few patches through and it's very consistent throughout the bore length. 1 to 2 MOA should be do-able. The lazered import mark is under the handguard as usual, but mine is hardly noticeable.

It's not perfectly polished, but appears to me a much smoother finish with barrel and receiver than your standard infantry rifle. I'm satisfied with it so far and will get a range report with pics when I get time.

Spent a morning shooting my PU from Trade EX. I had lots of fun, and made NO adjustments to the scope aside from typical slight windage and elevation(less than one click). I simply installed the mount and tightened the top elevation set screw back down, then lined the scribe marks back up on the scope and ring.

The rifle is a very good shooter, I used both surplus ammo and hand loads. Shot very tight groups (holes touching) as far as I went out to 150 yards.

I have no regrets about buying this rifle and I hope others have as much FUN shooting the rifle as I did.

You're helping it "go on" by posting your self. Even though it was babbling that no one cares about.

"bab·bling- noun

-the random production of meaningless vocal sounds characteristic of infants after about the sixth week."

Why shouldn't it be?

Wow this is still going on.
Cheers

I believe your name is Sergei. I've bought 2 very nice repro laminated 91/30 snipers from your company in the fairly recent past. I'm very pleased with their condition and the bores are mint.

However, the two pu sniper Tula 91/30's I bought from Jacques are the real deal. They are in beautiful condition and the one has a stamped not electropencilled mount. I've owned a number of real snipers in the past including one mint Hungarian example and I know something about what I'm talking about. Vic of Gunboards is the expert and he says they are real Russian snipers, not recently put together 91/30 rifles and original scopes.

I don't understand why you keep up this silliness. You're just making yourself look bad.

Stop it.

Well my PU arrived from Marstar early last week and I was a little scared when I first started cleaning the barrel. It was very dirty but I only have a hint of frost. Otherwise this is a pretty slick set-up. A 1943 Izzy and the scope numbers have obviously been force matched. Either way I'm good to go. Definetly better value than a Ukranian reproduction in my opinion. The repro's are good shooters however I haven't seen any that didn't have rusty bores.

i guess surgey got is way, its all over so theres nothing left to do but buy a reproduction pu91 /30 from westrifle for 480 plus tax and 60 to ship to the east coast do the math lol

whats the indications saying an Izzy mosin is a sniper ?
the scope serial stamps on left side of the reciever ?
Is it possible the rifle is a real sniper without that stamps ?
