Mosin Original WW2 Dated Matching Sniper Rifles for SALE!

Trade-Ex and PS use to sell Sniper Clones that were made with:
1. Repro Scopes/Mounts made by the original Scope maker (all the scopes were marked with the same maker/year - just like every other repro WWII scope out there).

The scopes on these rifles are marked with a variety of scope makers/years. These scopes also have the (box with slash) refurb stamp and the turrets are covered in cosmo.

So these scopes are either:
1. Original refurb'd scopes; or
2. The fake scope makers have introduced two versions of their scope (PU and SVT) models, are now taking the time to apply multiple random maker marks/dates of production, taking the time to cosmo the turrets, and are applying fake refurb stamps all well selling them at the same price they used to.

The later simply doesn't make sense. If you are going to fake a scope/markings why fake a refurb stamp?

I was discussing this with a Russian friend and he pointed out that the securing pins and screws on our repro-snipers we have been selling for a few years are not located on the same spot on the receiver as our recent batch of refurb snipers. I did a quick comparison and he is quite right, I also observed on my own that the reverse side of the upper mounts on the repro snipers are quite smooth with very few toolmarks, but the recent batch of refurb snipers on the other hand have heavy toolmarks on the reverse side.
Very strange, n'est-ce pas mes amis!

Caveat emptor

In other word's, if you wait too dam long they will all be sold!

Or shall I say it better,,you snooze - you looze.

This whole thing reminds me of when Districorp brought in the Garand M1-D Sniper's and run of the mill Garand's.

Oh!, they can't be real, must be fake.

Garands, let alone M1-D's where few and far between back then before Districorps Happy Day's.

We where buying the Snipers for around $325.00

Lets see, 17 years later, how much are they going for now?

I had around 18 of those Garands Snipers at one time in the basement.

Now I have got 6 Mosin Sniper's on the way from weimajack.

I like weimajack's hand picking. (nice little plug there)

I have been around collecting and shooting milsurps for d@m near 40 years.

This sounds to be the next best thing to the Garand Happy Day's.

Ok back to the investigation....starting to feel like a detective here.
Looked at the two pages of the manual that has signatures and serial numbers.

Using an online Russian Cyrillic to English translator one page is a "certificate of packaging" and there is one line I translated that read "packed in accordance with ??? as per the requirement"
So this appears to be talking about the way it was packaged for sale/shipping. Not surprising you can see similar pages in manuals with other guns.

Will work on the 2nd signature page next. The title translates to "certificate of receipt". This is the one I posted the pic of.

Booklet does not mean anything it was purely made up to pass off these rifles as modern hunting rifles to avoid export regulations on military weapons. Believe the rifles not the stories, that is my last comment on the subject.

Maybe I missed this over the many pages of speculation and argument, but isn't the time proven method to verify an unknown by comparing to examples with a known provenience? Weren't there original PU snipers & spare scopes sold in Canada by Century back in the day?
It's times like this that lead me to think the UN marking rules may actually benefit future collectors.

Personally, I've ordered one of these sight unseen from Tradex, because I have been very happy with a past purchase, and I'll decide about what I have, and how I feel about Tradex after I have the rifle in my own hands. Until then, there is no point in getting worked up about it.

well after all that i feel a little better, looks like they a athentic referb sniper rifles so all there is left to do now is to wait ontil it arrives. Thanks JP i feel a lot better ,maybe have to order another after i get to see it

No worries Comrade with the Made in Russia Tattoo on this recent batch...No Tats on the Originals...

Well it appears the $600 Mosin sniper deal is likely the sum of it's parts.

What is an original scope and mount worth btw????

I wish the Russian exporters did not stamp the scope serial numbers on the receivers. Why? Because now with all these in the market who will ever be able to tell an authentic one from this new batch.

It will be impossible to ever prove an original is actually legit, and will likewise ensure prices for Mosin snipers stay soft. Another sniper rifle that suffers from soft prices due to all the put togethers and fakes is the M1-D.

If mine does not shoot like a sniper it will be on the EE. I don't collect scopes. :(

From Russia With Love...nyet!

The marking is the Russian company Molot, and should be on all of these. All the AIM import Mosin spipers in the USA have a similar marking (but not hidden like these are).
