I found this on another board and I'm wondering if this is true.
"By the way, you can easily put a scope on a 91/30. With NO drilling and tapping, NO damage to the rifle, and NO expensive scope mount. It's really simple but I don't know if many people know about. If you look at the rear sight base, there's two pins. If you punch those pins out, you can slide of the rear sight base. Underneath is a 3/8" dovetail rail! Did you know that? Only thing is you have to get a scope with a really long eye relief, around 12", a handgun scope will work perfectly. "
