Mosin scope mount, trueshot and rocksolid mount questions.

Picked up another 91/30, 42 round reciever this time. Provided it's an accurate shooter I have been thinking of mounting an optic on it as the 34 hex I already have is to nice to beat around the bush with. I don't want to do a scout and LER scope, I've been looking at both the trueshot and rocksolid mounts.

My questions are:

Are both drill and tap mounts?
Will the stock bent bolt clear both versions of rails ? (I already have the bent bolt)
Is it just the trueshot that allows the use of iron sights?
Does anyone have any feedback on either mount? (Pros or Cons welcome)

Im looking for a front sight for a Mosin as well, does anyone have a spare one from cutting a barrel they don't need? PM me if you have one you want to part with.

There have already been numerous threads enquiring about these mounts and all of these questions you asked can be answered by contacting the manufacturers of the mounts or searching the forums.

Rock Solid: Drill and tap, requires low profile bolt, not a see through mount, sits lower than the TrueShot.
TrueShot: Drill and tap, new version will work with standard sniper bolt, is a see through mount, sits higher than the Rock Solid.

They are both good mounts. The only difference is the height.

Yeah I did a search, not much came up re the true shot and there were a ton of "where can I get RS from, they don't ship to Canada"

I know where to get both, I just want some real feedback from anyone that uses them. Thanks for the other answer, looks like I'll check out the trueshot. I'd like to use the irons as well as a scope.

One other idea I had was to use the Choate or similar promag sks mount and after doing a site and web search found these over on some other forums. Anyone with a Choate mount think it would hold up on a Mosin and the x54r round? It will allow the use of irons and require minimal grinding of a stock bent bolt which I already have, everyone seems to give it good reviews on the sks.

Both are a lot cheaper than the Trueshot or RSI and will not have any real bolt clearance issues unlike the RSI mount. It might be a bit lighter than the True Shot seeing as the Choate and Promag mounts are a one piece mount.

It will work just fine. Use a semi-permanent thread locker (red) and torque the screws down well and it should hold.
