Mosin Scope Mount

I also have a couple of Brass-Stacker scout scope mounts, they are a excellent solution, they also used to ship free to Canada (got my first one with free shipping) too. Very easy to buy online from and install, just use the supplied pin punch to knock out the 2 pins holding the rear sight to the base and slip the Brass-Stacker mount over the sights and then use the 2 hardened steel replacement bolts where the pins went and you are good to go.

It takes about 5 minutes to install and you can still use the issue Russian open sights as a back up sight, And you don't have to take the hand guard off to install and when you want to remove them you just unscrew the bolts, pull it off and tap the 2 pins back in again and the rifle is back to as issued again.

I also tried the rear sight base as a mount base too, but found that all the weaver bases that I fitted would slip under recoil because the dovetail cut into the rear sight base was too narrow and fine to allow a really tight lockup. Also some of the military rear sights are very tight to remove (rusted in place) even after punching the pins out.

Best thing about the Brass-Stacker mount is no permanent alteration of your rifle takes place and it is quick and easy to remove and return the rifle to as issued condition. I don't understand why no Canadian companies become dealers for these mounts, they would sell a ton of them.

If you get a brass stacker get their lovely leather cheek rest/shell holder It's a nice touch on the mosin.
