There seems to be a number of dealers that are selling off shooter grade Mosins right now. Are they all likely from the same shipment, or will some be better than others? I am not too worried about the furniture, but would like a rifle that actually shoots half decent. Are the shooter grades the rifles that no one wants and just need to be dumped?
Thanks

"Shooter grade" rifles are usually from the same crate as the really good ones except these ones may have some loss of shellac, some wear and tear on the bluing, perhaps some arsenal repairs on the wood...etc. They may not look at nice as a minty refurb but I bet they can shoot just the same if not better.

They are also a good way to get into the milsurp shooting and collector market if you are on a budget.

Most of the problems with any milsurps are dark bores and bad crowns. Forty bucks will fix a bad crown and handloading will correct for a dark or warn bore.

Thanks for the information. I think I may put in a call to Westrifle or Tradex next week.
