I took my new mosin to the range a few weeks back and had a complete blast with it accept for one acception. I couldn't hit the broad sight of a barn...literally. I was using the iron sights and my rounds were falling 2-3 feet to the left of my point of aim. I looked at the front sight and noticed it was way to the right, however, there was a vertical line on the front sight that I assumed was indicating zero. any help?

Put it in a vice with somthing to protect the barrel from scraches of dents and don't tighten it too much and use a brass punch and slowly move it to center. I had the same problem with my M91/30 when I got it and lined it up to the line and it's dead center. I can get 2 1/2- 3" groups at 100 yards consistently using irons, but it took alot of getting used to shooting it to get good. I got 1 1/2" group at 75 yds a couple months ago. But beware, they shoot 3" high with 147gr ammo. Well mine did anyway.

That is the funny thing though...It is lined up with the line marked on the sight but, it is still way over to the right. Could the gun shoot that poorly that it requires the sight to be all the way over to the right just to make zero?

if its a m44 the poi will be over to the left with bayo off. my 91/30s all shot differennt with bayo off.also with heavy ball ammo some of them shoot 1.5 feet high at 100'
