Hi All,

Looking for a little help with my Mosin M91....

I assumed it was hardened cosmo in the chamber... and proceeded to the following steps:
1) Steam boiling water
2) Mineral Spirits Bath
3) Liberal amounts of brake cleaner
scrubbed with ....
4) Toothbrush
5) 2 Brass toothbrushes
6)2 20 gauge shotgun brushes on a drill

I am fairly convinced that the chamber is clear of cosmo....The bolt does have a few rough spots...
Any advise?
The video below shows the stickiness only after a dry fire (the firing pin spring has been removed for demonstration purposes)

Some rounds are sticky no matter how well you clean your chamber. Older vintage Czech rounds are often hard to eject.

Wow ok...

Today I tried another bolt in the the chamber that a local gunsmith had and it worked like a charm, smooth tight but highly useable...

Seems like the few I shot with friends seemed alot more smooth, remember that the video has a bolt with no firing pin spring there is absolutely no tension in the bolt (its considerably worse with the spring in), and it seems tougher to open then my friends mosins...

I've had the good fortune to have friends with tons of bolt actions, this is the first I've had to wrestle with two hands....
If its common then perhaps that's why I got such a good price.

Was considering, removing a few spring links or polishing the bolt... but I guess I'll try shooting it... hoping not to have to take a boot to the bolt if it locks up too tight on me... but I'd bet that was done to this one already by someone....
