Mosin supply?

They have a bunch at mountain man sports in cranbrook BC. $140 with grease on it and $160 clean. I got a really nice one there.

Did you get refund or return a rifle to us? Did contact me or Al

Sergey
They do seem to be getting rare. A couple of months ago I bought a $150 cheap Mosin from Westrifle and they sent me one the bore was really rusted and heavily pitted. I think we are scraping the bottom of the barrel now.

Too bad I really like the Mosins.

Sergey - I did not get offered a full refund. Sorry I tried to send you a private reply to this post but it wouldn't accept it.

I talked at length to Al by email and he offered me a partial refund for the cost of rifle only because I didn't inspect the bore within 3 days of receipt - true and my mistake. I wasn't aware this was your policy.

Based on the look of the exterior, the ad on your website saying the rifling was good, your reputation for quality and my life being really busy I just put it in the safe - my mistake again. The chamber was full (solid) of cosmoline and some in the muzzle (turned out to be rust), so I could not see down the bore clear. Sorry my friend, there is no way someone looked down the bore to inspect it. It must have slipped thru the inspection cracks.

A month later I went to clean the bore and was shocked. I sent you folks and email right away before I ever fired it and was told to fire it. I have scrubbed it and fired 100 rounds and is what it is -rusty and pitted near the muzzle.

If I accepted the partial refund I would be out of pocket about $60.00 shipping on a $150.00 rifle ($211.00 to my door) and nothing to show for it. It just didn't make sense.

Ono of the other members said he has bought 40 plus rifles from you guys and never had a problem. Well I bought my first rifle from you and it must have been the 41st in the rack - lucky for him.

Sorry Sergey I am just being honest. I own a number of milsurp Mosin rifles and I am not new to this game. At the end of the day Westrifle sold me a pitted, rusty bore rifle. I have spent my ammo, time and energy trying to make it better. I am not happy with it. It is rusty and pitted at the muzzle and I refuse to sell to anyone on the forum because it wouldn't be right.

If its pitted and rusted at the muzzel end you should try to get it counter bored or if that's dosent work then maybe you will have to bubba it a bit :(

Not to sound like a d1ck, but like you said...it's a $150 milsurp. It would have taken 10min and a kettle of boiling water to find out it wasn't in the condition you expected.

You had 3 days..that's a pretty reasonable amount of time for a dealer of surplus military rifles to allow for inspection. Sorry it isn't in the condition you were hoping for...but in my experience the boys at Westrifle are not about trying to pull a fast one.

Chalk it up to experience and go shoot it without regret. I bet the old rusty, pitted bore will do just fine ;)

Vermintrex you are right bud. I should have, could have and didn't :(. Live and learn from my error. You want to buy it - I will give you the same deal I got ($211.00 plus shipping) minus the rust :). Think about it and let me know.

I do believe that Westrifle would not normally ship a rifle bore in that condition. This one slipped thru the cracks and should have not been shipped that way.

haha...I'll pass on this one, thanks for the offer though ;)

I've just put 2 days into cleaning the bore on a SVT-40....patches are still coming out black lol.

Next up is a 1891/30, so I expect another marathon cleaning session and probably pitting and disappointment as well ;)....so, yeah...I'll pass on the SKS, already have 2 with perfect chromed barrels.

Just shoot her...I bet it'll become one of your favourites !

Hey Muskyhunter. I had a Mosin with a bad bore. The last few inches had no rifling and it wouldn't hit 16" @ 100 yards. I cut it down to an M59 replica and it now shootes 4" groups. I tell you this so that you know that you don't have a lost cause on your hands. Or you could give it to me for a song and I'll build another carbine.

I remember your emails going back and forth with me. I offered a refund, because of late inspection you wanted me to pay. I gave you am option and you decided to give it to some kid. I am sorry that this happened. Sergey has a block on his emails unless you become friend with him he will not accept PM. He had a problem where one member was sending him PM everyday about different items and he is not always here
