Mosquito cracked slide

Yep I have a friend who had one, slide cracked. They are junk. Sadly there is no other option for a Sig style .22LR trainer. Many better options for a “full-size” .22LR pistol... but if the Sig pattern is important for your application then your limited to the low quality present in the Mosquito offering.

I’ve always wondered if a stiffer recoil spring could alleviate the problem? Although that would potentially open a whole new can of problems with FTF, FTE, etc.
In my limited experience, the cycling reliability with the stock mosquito is already less than confidence-inspiring.
 
I was just inspecting mine to determine how it cracked, why dont they put a thin polyurethane pad where the slide bangs against the recoil spring base thing ( not sure of the name). Seems like an easy fix.

Maybe one could fashion and homemade rubber buffer for this?
 
The mosquito's slide is made from a powder metal of a unknown kind. There are numerous picture of slide cracks for the mosquito, its a well known problem, they are not worth the headache in my opinion.
 
I was doing a bunch of google searching and apparently the slide is made from Zamac which is an alloy also commonly used to make hot wheels toy cars. It's an acronym for Zink Aluminum MAgnesium and Copper. It cannot be welded.

What are you talking about? Get the upper ad stick it on a 226. They make xchnage kits

Quite literally, yes. If my memory is correct (and this is about 10 years back or so, so it may not be) both guns were manufactured by Umarex and both suffered the exact same issues.
