Is it a 590 or 590A1 ? Any extras ? Either way that price is higher than buying one new at Wholesale.

i paid $660 tax included for my 590a1 w/ 20" barrel.... but at that time the store i bought it from was the only one that had it in stock. And the price was relativley fair considering if i order "mail order" with all the shipping , etc it would've come close to that amount.

im sure it just said 590 on the box parker finish 20'' barrel with rifle sights on it is the 590 A1 a better gun ??

the 590a1 is the real deal, I handled both and the a1 is way nicer

That is too high a price. I'm no fan of the 500 series Mossbergs and would tell you to spend the money on a Remington 870 Police or Express instead, but if you have your heart set on a 590 I would think a used one would command smaller price than that. Depending on the condition anywhere from $200-$400. Any more than that and you might as well buy a new one. Remember it's not like it is a rare gun, you can easily find another one so don't pay that kind of money.

I got rid of a Mossberg and went to Remingtons (and one lonely Winchester 1300 defender)! That's the more usual route... What prompts your opinion that the Mossberg is superior? Design simplicity? Safety location? Those are the only two factors I would truly concede as being possibly beneficial, but I still wouldn't argue design simplicity is in favour of the Mossberg. But yes, the 870's safety position sucks some serious arse. Other than that, 870 smokes the mossy IMHO.

The mossys definately are better in the safety position and the trigger, my 870's had the cheapest tupperware trigger guards one of which broke, augh !! Also the mossy's are lighter to carry all day and being able to access the load port all the time to slip in a shell or too is a great feature,far too often my rems wanted to catch my finger under the flap. And like youve said they are simple !!
