Mossberg’s Model 464

From what I've read they're a solid lever rifle option. From the 1 I handled and my personal opinions, a good used winchester or marlin would be my preferred choice.
I can't speak for how they shoot, but I imagine the can produce minute of whitetail accuracy out to 200-250 yards.

Mossberg 464

After reading a product revue, I bought one several months ago. I like it very much. As to accuracy, I have not yet had the time to do in-depth testing but it is clearly as accurate as my marlins and appears to be more accurate than my 94's. The Hornady LeveRevolution ammo works very well. It takes a scope easily. The iron sights are excellent. The rubber buttplate is the best, bar none! The only point I dislike on mine is the grittiness of the safety, which I intend to work on when I have a couple of hours. The price was right. If I lost this one, I would buy another 464 again.

Why buy a copy when there are so many original M94s out there for sale. The resale of the original Winchesters will hold up much longer than any copy of their great model 94. With the costs of exchange and taxes, your boy can have a piece of HISTORY. The short 20" barrels make the 94 carbines, a gun which is great to about 150 yards and the 26 inch barreled rifles to about 200. I have taken many deer with my 1906 rifle and found it very adequate for this job with home loads.

If I was in the market for one and if they came with a rear aperture sight I'd be tempted.

What some folks don't realize is Mossberg does have a very long history and tradition, maybe not as long as Winchester, but then again where is Winchester now?

I Have looked around for some Winchesters, but they are a little above my price range. I took my son to Cabela's on the weekend and he fell in love with the mossberg. He just turned 12 the 464 seems to be a good fit for him.
This will be his first rifle. I just don't want him to be disappointed.
