Where to begin....

I guess at the end of May, one of my yard cats had a pretty good gash in her back leg. Although I had suspected it was a raccoon, I couldn't be sure. Shortly after that, we spotted a raccoon near our yard. Since then I've been trying to catch up with him.... with no luck.

Fast forward to last night.

While asleep, I was awoken to my wife saying something like 'it's on the deck, do you want to shoot it or not' so as fast as I could while still half asleep, I grabbed the the trusty mossberg and ran to the patio door. There, to my suprise was our friend the raccoon... starring into the window at us. I guess he couldn't see into the dark house, but as we tried to slide the screen open juuuuuuust enough to slide the barrel out, the dog barked again, and away the bastard ran.

Now to tonight.

So, after a day of scheeming, I came up with a plan. I drug the picnic table into the front of the lawn. I then took the rubber cat dish, topped it up, and set it on top. We sprinkled some flour on top.... to maybe try and catch some tracks... just to see if he'd take the bait.
So I'm sitting there watching the TV when I hear some crunching outside....and well..... I'll let the pics tell the rest of the story.

Here's the set up...

One down, more to go :D

Quite the gut splitter! What number shot did you use?

Federal steel, 3", 1 1/4" BBB's.

I was surprised how well it worked. The first shot was his upper frontal body, as he was looking right at us. When I walked down he was flailing around a bit, so I shot him again..... that's the one that opened him up a bit.

turkey shot works awesome as well. I shot one running across my driveway that was getting into the garbage threw the dog door. He must of got blown 3 feet and rolled about 5 times at 20 yards LOL
