Mossberg 14" 590A1 Flashlights

You guys should get the tri-rail from FAB. Then you can mount any light on it.

Not familiar with this product but there is very little real estate on the shorter action bars/tube on the 14", so options are limited. Surefire makes a direct fit flashlight forend and Choate makes a basic direct fit railed forend for the short action bars:

Hi all, just to let you know the surefire 621FA definitely fits. Found one at a retailer today, no idea why they had it in inventory given its age and the relative rarity of the 14" 590A1. Anyhow, got a great deal and i find it very comfortable. Looking around for an LED upgrade for the lamp now.

The magpul forend gives enough real estate to mount a flashlight without giving you a tiny spot to hold the shotgun. They're easy to fit to the 14" slide tube.

The Surefire DSF with the dual mode 200 and 600 lumen light works very well on my Mossberg 590A with an 18" barrel. I like the higher powered light since it was useful when shooting a Racoon out of a tree recently at 6.30AM, which had got in the hen house and had a party!

600 lumen? Wow! I thought the surefire forends were fairly weak compared to some of the newer torches out now. Not that 200 lumens is weak sauce but more is better, right? :p

Anyone has any idea who's selling the older Surefire forend for 14" Mossberg?

If you mean the non-DSF model (200 max LM) I got mine from 'One Shot but I believe it was the last one left. Ebay would probably be your best bet. I guess you could try 'Dave's as well but I would be surprised if they had any.

Thanks. Dave has the new ones. If I won't find the older version, I may as well go with the new one. Irunguns US have some left, but I don't feel like buying from them.

If you get a chance to handle a DSF before you buy it, try it out. Some people are finding it not as comfortable as the previous GENs.

I got the DSF for a pretty good deal that I couldnt pass on.

Heres my take

Pros: Extremely bright
2 modes
lockout for transport
Very solid

Cons: Heavy, makes the gun feel less nimble
the grip is far back on the handle
it is quite slick

Personally I'm pretty happy with it, it looks totally awesome, and the 600 lumens is searing for outdoors use, and you can switch it to 200 lumens if its used indoors.

It doesnt have perfect ergonomics but it feels very solid and high quality, it really gives confidence in its reliability.

As for the grip I just ordered some grip tape for it and I'm sure that'll solve its lack of aggressive texture.
