Well, you know the story, Looky. If this is an accurate rifle [which I suspect it is] there is no
point in handicapping it with garbage glass.
We'll know before long, in any case. But it is a well-kept example. The bore looks even better than the
outside, so have high expectations. Dave.

I have one that came to me missing the iron sights. The Lyman sights can be found. As I get older, I begin to appreciate a lighter rifle, which this is. The rifle shoots far better than its cost would indicate.
Well, my [new to me] Mossberg 144 LSB has arrived, thanks to a fellow Gunnut.
It is in very nice shape for a 22 many decades old. Have not shot it yet,
but if what I see with my borescope is any indication, it should be a winner.
The bore looks as new inside, with no pits nor any ugly machining gouges.
These rifles, while not a 40x or an Anschutz 54, were always the one to watch.
They are not pretty by any stretch of the imagination, but they do shoot!!
Triggers are fully adjustable, and that 15/16" diameter "truck axle" barrel with
the akro-groove rifling is a pretty stable platform.
I'll get a scope mounted and see how it works out...report back later.

You are missing the front hand stop for yours,or do you have it? At one point in time I had 3 lsb models. Sold two,other one sits in the safe. I also have a straight 144 model.Its a beauty to shoot also.As well I hav a couple of different Mossberg models for when I feel like being nostalgic out in the gopher fields.Since to me they are a working rifle,usually I bed them,add a 1/4 inch black pad just for length,recut the cheek piece and add in a shadow line to them with a deeper undercut,switch to detachable studs,lots of truoil on the stocks...I love working on those old rifles.
I love old Mossberg 22's,been collecting them for a few years,i have about 14 of them,including 2 different styles of 144LSB,regular 144, 44US,they are more accurate than most new 22's today,the price is starting to climb,my LSB's cost me about $275.00 each,now i see them at $400.00 or more in near mint shape,so they are a pretty good investment,
