I`ve been looking at getting one but cant decide between the carry handle or the flat top whats your opinions on which is better especially if I plan on putting on a optic sight.

Flat top please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have the carry handle and love it, however with a red dot site the seat height is close to 4 inches. If you were to shoot only iron sites, it's amazing and the gun is great for what it's worth. It's no 15-22 but it isn't restricted and magazine limited either!
If you'd wait till the flat tops are out I bet you can get a carry handle for pennies!
Just so you know, you should look up youtube on cleaning the gun. It's sort of a pain to do compared to the 15-22!!!

Welcome to the forums. Try browsing the rimfire section or using the search function, there is at least one thread a week if not more made on the tactical .22.

Flat top is not available yet. Therefore, no one can give you a review on it. But if i had to put my money on one, i'd wait for the flat top.

Thanks.

I searched but didn`t find anyone comparing the flat top and carry handle.

Thought they were available as cabela`s and a local dealer has them listed.

Don't be fooled the Mossberg Tactical is extremely simple to strip and clean.

I've done it so many times I could probably do it all blind folded now, the ONLY thing to concern you when stripping the rifle is don't kink the recoil spring then putting it back in.

Through the ejection port make sure ya use a flat screwdriver and press it upwards so its facing out the bottom of the receiver when reinstalling it.

Get the ATI ( Advanced Technology ) strikeforce cheekriser and rubber buttpad . Works very well for optics and it looks great.
Ellwood Epps is an ATI dealer.

Update:
Just called Cabela's for an update on my Flat Top order. Still no word on deliveries. They did however tell me they now have 800 on order !! Looks like there is some interest in these !!

Wanna bet they didn't order any extra 25 rd mags ???? LOL

My Concern is all the screws and if you clean your gun alot, my fear is the potential to strip a screw or the plastic holding the screw.
Should I be? Thus I clean my Mossy with a snake and alot of Q-tips.
Doing this has not effected accuracy so far. But I do know I'll need to strip it down sooner or later.

Go to the store and ask to check one of them out. I personally know three people, not including myself, that got all wide-eyed at the prospect of such a cheap cool-looking plinker and then decided against it after holding it. The chief complaint is that it feels cheap. The reality is that it is cheap. But at its price...how can you afford not to have one?

I had the same experience...went to the store, held it in my hands, said to myself that it felt like a toy and the guy subsequently upsold me on an SR-22. It comes with a hefty price tag, to be sure, but I prefer the feel of it. To each his own. I just want to encourage you to go and hold the thing before ordering one online.

Well put! You do get what you pay for. Just don`t let anyone influnce your choose on jams. Rimfires need a matching ammo and you need to shoot alot to find what it likes.
Once you do, what ever you decide, you`ll have a great gun.

I have flat topppped!!!!

Aight f**k it I got tired of waiting so I've started to butcher my own carry handle model into a flat top, as I have RIS rails laying around.

Work is very rough right now, I lack proper sized hardware to mount the rail flush with obstructions for anything on the rail.

Front iron sight cut off, it was useless misaligned garbage anyways.

Rear sight cut off as well, leaving just the base of it for now, got too late at night to do anything more.

I've flipped my quad rail over as well as the bottom rail was slightly undersized in a few spots not allowing tactical light/laser combo to securely mount.

Paint job will come after I get all the body work complete, currently in progress of modding a H&K MP5 folding stock to fit the rifle as well. ;)

After that, I'll probably thread the barrel and cover up what sticks out with a fake suppressor.
