I was given an old Mossberg 340B bolt action .22 (s/l/lr) that had been stored for quite some time.

At first the rifle would fire okay, perhaps 1 or 2 'misfires' per 10 round mag. Now there is no 'boom' after the click at all :-(.

Any suggestions for stripping down & cleaning the firing pin / bolt? One friend suggested a soak in kerosene, have not had a chance to pick some up yet to try.

Worst case scenario, does anyone know where I could source a new firing pin or perhaps the whole bolt here in Canada.

Cheers!

Go here and scroll down to your model and you can click on an exploded view. I would first dump the complete bolt as an assembly and let soak for awhile. Also completely clean the whole rifle. Western Gun Parts in Edmonton may have a firing pin but they likely won't sell it to you if you aren't a gunsmith. You can get one from Numrich in the US but they charge postage and a $25.00 fee unless maybe you can find someone else ordering parts to share costs. You could also contact gunrunner100 or lever76 off of this forum. They often have parts.
