I was given a 351KC that's seen better days. The action still cycles but the barrel appears cooked as it can't hit the broadside of the barn...
The wood is beaten but not cracked and the barrel has rust in several places. Is there any hope for this gun?? Are there replacement barrels available?
Also the modal number clearly shows 351KC but I can't find any reference... my google search only shows 351K or 351C????

The 351KC is the same as the 351KA or KB...it just lacks the swivels apparently.and made after 1971..... Numrich lists the barrel for $50.

I'm going to guess that it's heavily leaded. What does the bore look like? Disassemble it as far as it will go. Soak the barrel with your favourite powder solvent for a few days. Brush and patch it. Then soak it with Kroil penet. oil for a few days. It doesn't dissolve the lead, but supposedly it gets under the lead to help loosen it so that a brush or patch can move it out.

Or look for a replacement barrel. Try Western Gun Parts.

my brother was given one of those as a teenager. Didn't know much about guns then, I always thought the barrel was shot out, since accuracy was non existent beyond 10 yards.
Personally, I wouldn't waste money on it, you can pick up a used gun that shoot well for $100 from time to time. Western gun parts prices are on the high side.

Money isn't so much an issue. I'm relatively new to guns and thought I'd take this opportunity to tear into one and see if I can refurb it.

A project is always fun, in not really economically a great idea.

Before you do anything with it, clean the barrel until you are sure all the lead from the last 20 years is gone. Then see how it shoots to determine your next step. Many old rimfires went decades without being cleaned and look like smoothbores now. Get rid of that build up and you will know what it can really do. Rimfires can shoot 50,000+ rounds with no appreciable barrel wear, so it is doubtful the barrel is shot out.
