mossberg 42b

I picked up a nice old mossberg 42 b at the gunshow,mahogany stock, no fold down front piece-but it has me puzzled.The front sight has a little flip up post-but also a small ring-you can choose either.The rear sight with windage and elevation is on the barrel-but it also has an adjustable peep sight at the back of the reciever.Is this original-or where they added?Or could it be a target variation?

I have one with the exact same setup, as far as I know all 42B's come that way.
