Mossberg 464 - thoughts?

Haven’t had any issues with mine in the 8 years I’ve had it. Marinecote finish is nice and the stock Williams fire sights are great. It also happened to out-shoot my friends Henry lever haha.
He wasn’t pleased with that:). I’d post a picture but can’t figure out how

Use this to upload your pic https://postlmg.cc/sMCNQM8V then copy directly link, and paste between
then post entire link.

Try to avoid the "tactical" version, like the plaque!

I love mine, accurate and badass looking. Not much in terms of other people customizing the tacticool one but I find it looks better all done up. I will post pictures when I am home.

I especially love it because it makes old-timers upset. That is worth every penny.

Look what Santa left me!
That's what I'm telling the wife! LOL

Very nice!

So, picked one up yesterday, doesn’t have the checkering but in good shape given that’s it’s a few years young. Will post a pic later.

Well here she be...simple and classic, nice feel and heft. Look forward to seeing how she does this week.

Very Nice,
I like the colour. Are you going to try different ammo or just shoot it?
Purchased a bunch of 1F brass a while ago Remington and Hornady
Will try some load developments for my 94 and 464 when it gets warmer...it's -21°c right now.

I still hope to track down a marine coat/laminate version someday.

Didn't even know they made these...interesting.

Just shoot it first time out. As an aside bought this off EE this week as well (had to top off the wife’s gifts of course).

I’ve owned 2 of them. A standard blued one with the pistol grip stock, and a marinecote with the laminate stock.

The standard one has worked flawlessly and is reliable and ergonomically pleasing so shoot.

The marinecote one had some feeding issues to start, which eventually went away after cycling it with snap caps repeatedly to break it in. The marinecote one also did not like 170 grain. It would lock up the action and I’d have to dry fire it again to undo it. I assumed that the slightly rough marinecote was binding up. I’ve had no such issues with the standard one though. I sold the marinecote and the new owner reports having no issues with it and it gets regular use

Any jamming or loading issues? Also, how was the fit and finish?

For Fit and finish I have zero complaints. Other than having to feel the button under the lever be pressed firmly it feels great in the hands.

Put 20 rounds of 170/180 gr win (forget) and heard the gong. I was focusing more on some shotguns and type 81 because I was on crown land.

I had one issue loading a shell into the tube, which was user error more or less. Other 19 went in smooth. Action felt great, had no hiccups.

First time I used my Henry axe I got my thumb nail stuck in the gate and it ripped a decent chunk of it off. If you have small enough fingers to fit in be careful. 410 vs 3030 I didn't have issues this time around.20211113_091556-2.jpg

My only F&F complaint is the hammer thumb rest ends are too sharp and the thumb expander that are supplied by Mossberg are garbage(broken 2) now use a Carlsons.

Also the top of the hammer that rides along the bottom of the action is to tall, causing excess upward pressure on the action as it cycles. It only needs enough material to engage the sear and that's it, I've filed down my hammer to elevate some of that pressure result in s smoother cycling action.
