Any opinions on the 4x4 Bolt Action Mossberg Walnut stock.
3006.

Pro's or Con's Comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I own a Mossberg 4x4 in 300 Win Mag with the laminated stock and a 270 with the tiger stripe stock. Both have worked well for me and I wouldn't trade them for anything else.

If you get the scoped combo you will need to resight it for sure but other than that, solid rifles. And I've put lots of rounds down range with both. No animals ever got up either :D

The issue was with the bolt handle that attached to the bolt body by a clamped on collar. One part was splined, the other not. On some rifles the bolt handles came loose i.e. the bolt handle would come loose, rotate around the bolt body without actually rotating the bolt. There are pix online.

I read of some that were able to fire without the bolt being properly closed or properly in battery, without sufficient lug contact - meaning that bolts would be blown back.

I did some research on them as Cabelas had them for $269. Too much negative info for me.

On the other hand those that have them report very good accuracy.

I saw some broken bolt heads off of the Mossberg Night Train series a couple of months ago. Looked like there had been some kind of preexisting fault that broke under the stress of the first shot. They should test fire these guns before they leave the factory.
