mossberg 4x4 vs remington model 770

what one would be the better gun in a .300 win mag the mossberg 4x4 or the remington 770?
any opinoins on either would really help thanks

Having had neither but having read everything about them that I have come across, I would point out that the 770 seems to be essentially the 710 with a new name, and while some people say the 710 has given them satisfactory service, many people report defects and disappointment and the consensus is that it is inferior to competitor's products offered for significantly lower prices. The Mossberg has not been around as long, but it is basically another version of their ATR100 which most users report as being not all a disappointment like the 710 was.

Given the choice between those two, I'd say "Why can't I have a Stevens 200?"

I am sorry but i own a .300 remmy 770 and i hate it. They say the bolt is better than the 710 but i think it is the same. It still is really sticky and clumbsy. and i hate the stock. It is a very cheap gun. I would go with the mossberg

Neither but if i had to then the mossberg. They are supposed to have upgraded but i would look around to see if you cant get a good used rifle in the caliber.

Buy a Stevens maybe be ugly but they shoot well and are better than both those you listed.

I own a 710, the older version of a 770. Its not dissapointing but its not a gun to brag about either. The stock is good, clip is cheap and the bolt is sticky.

What ever you decide, don't buy the Remington. 710/770 same same.
+1 for a Savage or Stevens.

Heard about a guy in Alberta who had one of them gun racks in the window of his pickup ... with a Remington 710 in it. Parked it in a dark corner at the mall.

Someone broke into his truck ....



and left another 710 !!!

The older Mossbergs were made by Howa. Howa's have a very good reputation for quality and accuracy.
