Hello CGN !!

This is my first post / thread on this forum, so I hope im following the correct format. I tried to do a search but couldnt find the results I was looking for.

I'm new to the sport, and recently purchased my first shotgun ( 20ga - Mossberg Pump action - 500 Series - 26" Barrell - Capacity 2 3/4 and 3 ) I will admit, the use of this gun will be primarly for target / skeet shooting not hunting.

I'm well aware of the canadian stipulations with shotguns and hunting ( 2 in the magazine, 1 in the chamber ) however, it appears my magazine could hold more then the two rounds in the clyinder as I can hear something moving around when i flip the gun upside down ( not loaded of course ) Is there anyway I can remove this piece ( blocker ?? ) Its a PITA having to load two rounds, cycle once then re-load the last one when skeet shooting, or just at the range shooting straight targets.

Your input is greatly apprecaited.

PS - I Love this sport !!!

Yes, you can take the plug out for skeet shooting / target practice, though some Skeet shooting clubs may restrict the capacity you may load to.

Thanks for the response.

Is this something I can do or take to a gunsmith? The barrell locks into the cylinder ( see below pic ) so i'm not sure how to remove the plug.

Do I get some type of tap to remove the threading insert ? ( see below pic )

Or do I remove the forstock by removing this O ring? ( see below pic )

Remove the magazine tube by unscrewing it from the action. The follower should be able to be removed and then you will have access to the spring and plug.

take the barrel off and load some shells into the tube how you would normally. This will push the piece of doweling out no problem. Did this 2 weeks ago and saved a bunch of time shaking the gun up and down.

ive only had to take the barrel off hold it upside down and shake it once to get them outa all 3 of my shotties.

Same, mine was a wooden dowel that fell out of the screw hole in which the screw to hold down the barrel goes into. just had to wiggle it around a bit upside down and it came out (picture number 2) right where the threads for the screw are.

Found a link from google, tried the shaking idea ( took about 5 seconds ) and out popped the dowell, just slowly removed it

Thanks for the input guys !!
